The favourite Suavito was eased by Damien Oliver due to a quick early tempo and settled in eighth place. She improved nicely between runners from the 700m going to third (three deep) at the home turn. She then sprinted up to take the lead at the 100m and went on to score a soft win by just over a length, putting up a nice effort – it was also an excellent ride by Oliver. Precious Gem settled near last, made a quick run (wide) from the 800m to challenge nearing the home turn. She took the lead on straightening then fought on well after that effort for a good second. You’re So Good showed pace to cross to the lead. Then led the field to the home turn and held on quite well for a sound third. Tango’s Daughter settled in fourth place, one out and one back, was held up briefly between runners nearing the home turn and then fought on for (3.2 lengths) fourth.
