Chautauqua was simply brilliant. He drifted back from barrier two, following a strong pace and was last in the ten-horse field (conceding the leaders about 12 lengths) at the 600m. Tommy Berry angled him between runners nearing the home turn, went to seventh on straightening and showed his amazing turn of foot to hit the front at the 50m and then dashed clear to win easily in an another outstanding performance. Srikandi began well from her difficult barrier (10) and settled well in sixth place, one off the rails. She moved up nicely coming to the home turn, briefly hit the front at the 100m and then fought on for a very good first-up second, having no chance with the winner. Rebel Dane was ridden quietly and settled in eighth place, one off the rails. He fanned deep from the 600m and kept running on well to take a very good third. Fast ‘N’ Rocking was seventh on the rails, improved between runners nearing the home turn and ran on well in the closing stages for a good (2.3 lengths) fourth. Buffering worked hard in search of the lead (with Rich Enuff racing on his inside) before getting to the front coming to the home turn. He then tired after his early efforts for a sound (3.5 lengths) fifth. Tiger Tees was a handy fourth and battled on for (4.5 lengths) sixth while his stablemate and half-brother Terravista was fifth on the rails but failed to get clear running in the straight and his (4.6 lengths) seventh should be overlooked.
