New Zealand three-year-old Sacred Elixir was quite impressive in winning here. He had a good run back in third place, but was held up behind runners from the 600m. Damian Lane angled him for clear running at the home turn, got a split at the 100m and then finished too well to score, seemingly with something in hand at the post. The $51 chance Morvada went to front and ran along from the 700m. He then did well in fighting on gamely for a good second. So Si Bon was back in fifth place, was deep (and under riding) at the 600m and kept battling on well to take a good third. Veladero was a handy third, moved up at the 600m, challenged in the straight and kept fighting on to hold (2.3 lengths) fourth. Prized Icon was sixth on the rails and held on quite well for (5.1 lengths) fifth, without threatening.
