The David Hayes-trained UK import Motivado scored a sound win at only his second Australian start. He travelled along well in sixth place, one off the rails. He moved up nicely four wide from the 600m to challenge rounding the home turn. After a battle in the straight, he drew clear at the 100m, outstaying his opposition for strong win. Shiny Buttons was fifth on the rails before pushing out at the 600m. He challenged three wide at the turn, took the lead at the 200m and fought on well for a good second. Finiguerra was eighth to the 600m and made ground under riding from that point. He went wide on straightening and kept plugging on the take third. *ANZ
