After recent seconds at Group One level at Randwick and Flemington, the former WA-trained Black Heart Bart broke through for a deserved Group One victory here. He began well and settled in tenth place on the rails, in a packed field, from his good barrier (2) but was blocked nearing the home turn before Brad Rawiller steered him between runners at the 300m. He then hit the front at the 150m before fighting back gamely for a very good win. Under The Louvre was in front of only four runners in the 18-horse field before getting a split at the 200m. He then came with a strong run to take a very good late-closing second. Supido raced towards the tail of the field before tracking up (with cover) from the 700m. He went deep and into clear running at the 300m, challenged at the 100m and then fought very well for a close-up third. Fast ‘N’ Rocking settled well back in the field from his difficult barrier (15). He was still back about 12th (wide) rounding the home turn and he then ran on nicely for a good (2.3 lengths) fourth while his stablemate, the three-year-old Faatinah raced in about seventh place (wide out) before improving well (wide) at the home turn. He challenged strongly at the 200m and then battled very well for (2.7 lengths) fifth, putting up a smart effort despite the rise in class.
