Lope De Capio thrust between runners late to score his maiden stakes win and sixth in total from 22 starts. From barrier two, his jockey Jarrod Lorensini jumped the five-year-old away quickly to settle fifth, in behind the pace on the fence. Shuffled back near the last corner, he moved away from the fence and was presented with a narrow gap when they straightened but didn't take it until the 100m, then burst through to the lead just short of the line. Previously unbeaten in eight starts, Desert Lashes went to the front early, put a length on them turning in and held all at bay except for the late dash through by the winner from Cool Passion, who was third last at the 600m, did not get clear until the 150m then flashed home to nail third right at the post.
