Fastnet Tempest was too strong over the last 100m and came away for a good win, his second stakes and eighth overall. Midfield early, he began to ease back and past the 1200m was among the rear group of five. At the 800m he quickened, went up to be midfield and rounding into the home straight sat four wide but gaining on the leaders. Into the straight his momentum carried him to within striking distance, caught the leaders at the 150m then ran clear for a nice win by a length and a half. Waging War sat fifth at the 800m and fourth, three deep turning in before co-leading inside the 300m. He took over at the 200m but was collared at the 100m yet fought well for second. A big finish from Brown Ben who from well back flew down the outer for third while Curragh was stuck in traffic at the 250m then ran on well for fourth.
