Toydini was smartly away from his wide barrier (13) and then eased to settle midfield, wide with cover. He was giving the leader about eight lengths as he commenced a run approaching the 600m. He switched very wide on straightening, put in a strong run and hit the lead at the 100m before drawing clear for an impressive win, running a great trial for the Epsom Handicap (Gr 1, 1600m). High Esteem went forward from his barrier (11) and raced in second place to the turn. He moved up strongly on turning for home, took the lead at the 200m and then fought gamely for a good second. Scream Machine was midfield at the 600m then switched to the rails on straightening. He challenged at the 200m and kept battling on well for a sound third. Spurtonic travelled well in fifth place, put in a run passing the 300m and fought on quite well for fourth, after seeming to have every chance. That’s A Good Idea led and established a good tempo. He led the field to the 250m but tired from that point to finish fifth. Top weight (59kg) Alma’s Fury was midfield to the 600m and held on in the straight to finish an honest sixth. *ANZ
