Siwa Lady was away quickly to lead crossing onto the fence on the first turn. She cornered into the home straight in front but hung out to the middle of the track. She found plenty under pressure in the straight but laid in back to the fence close to the post, hampering the runner up Whitlam. Whitlam was taken back to last from his outside barrier (9). He came wide on the home turn and then switched back towards the fence. He finished on gamely under hard riding for second. He was checked late on in the straight when the winner rolled back to the fence in the closing stages of the race. *ANZ
