Promising stayer Tremec enjoyed a good run in third place on the rails following a solid pace. He got through on the rails on straightening, took the lead at the 200m and fought on particularly well for a good win – his sixth in only 15 starts. NZ stayer Blood Brotha was third last to the 800m, moved up wide from the 600m and made the home turn very wide. But he continued to run on, challenging at the 200m before battling on well for second, putting up a good staying effort. Aliyana Tilde was about eighth, made up ground wide at the 600m, getting to third at the 200m before staying on in that position. The favoured pair Julienas (last) and Hathras (sixth) both dropped out after working hard in the mid-stages. *ANZ
