Sacred Falls settled near the rear before being shuffled back to last at the 600m. He got a nice run between runners as the field fanned wide on straightening and then went to the rails at the 200m. He ran on resolutely from that point, drawing away to win by three quarters length. Pierro had a nice run from his good barrier (2) travelling well in about seventh spot on the rails. He got a good split on straightening, took the lead at the 200m but could not hold of the late closing winner who had a 4kg advantage. Norzita began well from her wide barrier (14). She took the early lead, racing well away from the rails, at a moderate early tempo. She then eased to trail in second place and looked the winner at top of the rise when she raced to the front, then battling on gamely for a good third. Streama was handy about fifth, wide without cover, before moving up (wide) to challenge at the home turn. She then fought on well in the straight to finish fourth. Danleigh was midfield and wide with cover. He improved at the 600m, put in a strong run at the 200m then fought on for fifth while his stablemate Shoot Out was near last and very wide most of the way and made good ground in the closing stages for a sound sixth with his top weight (58kgs). *ANZ
