Reliable Man enjoyed a good trip in fourth place, travelling well behind a solid pace. He improved three wide approaching the home turn, dashed clear at the 200m and went on to win easily by two and half lengths, staging an impressive performance at his second Australian start. He unfortunately pulled up lame and should prove quite a force if he remains sound. It’s A Dundeel raced near the tail of the eight-horse field before Michael Rodd asked him to improve passing 600m. He pulled the whip on turning for home, the colt kept responding getting to second at the 100m and then fought on without looking likely to trouble the winner. Happy Trails was sixth one off the rails, got through in the centre on turning for home and kept running on well for a good third. Silent Achiever was fifth on the rails, went to the centre at the turn then just kept fighting on to take fourth just in front of Secret Admirer who made ground along the rails for fifth after being last to the turn. *ANZ
