Mourayan relaxed well in fifth place on the rails before moving one off to be sixth at the 1600m point. He improved wide approaching the home turn and was hard ridden on straightening. But he kept responding to challenge at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m and went on to win by three quarters length, putting up a good staying performance. Norsqui was handy all the way and came to the home turn in third spot on the rails. He got a split to challenge at the 200m then battled on gamely for a good second. Aliyana Tilde was fifth on the rails from the 800m, switched out to get a clear run on straightening and kept fighting on well to take the minor placing. Blood Brotha plugged on quite well from the tail of the field to get fourth. Macedonian held on for fifth after making a mid-race move. While the favourite Kelinni ($2.60) seemed to have every chance before finishing sixth and second favourite Maluckyday ($5.50) also disappointed in finishing seventh. *ANZ
