Guelph, a dual Group One winning filly last season, proved too good here. She was ridden patiently by Hugh Bowman and remained in second last place in the six-horse field to the home turn. She switched wide passing the 300m and came with a well-timed run to score decisively being suited by the 1400m distance. It was an impressive win and she looks on target for this season’s three-year-old fillies classics. Promising filly Arabian Gold was fourth on the rails to the turn, got an ideal inside run to take the lead at the 200m but she found the winner too good today at the level weights. It was a very good effort, considering the rise in class. Bound For Earth raced outside the leader to the turn and kept fighting on quite well in the straight for third, beaten three lengths. Shahad led the field to the 300m and battled on fairly well for fourth. *ANZ
