Streama began well and settled nicely outside the leader Veyron. She put in her bid passing the 250m, took a narrow lead at the 100m and then fought back gamely for a gutsy half neck win, her third at Group One level. The Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Royal Descent raced in sixth place, one off the rails, before putting in her run nearing the 300m. She then kept running on well, continually making ground, for a very good second. She is looking for further and appears to have returned in top order. Veyron led to the 200m point and fought back particularly well for a good third, beaten a length and half. Hawkspur was last in the nine-horse field to the turn. He switched wide on straightening and made up good ground for a solid fourth, beaten two lengths. It was a very good performance and is obviously looking for further. Fawkner was seventh on the rails to the 600m. He went to the centre at the 300m and ran on well, late, for a good fifth. The three-year-old colt Dissident was third on the rails to the 300m. He was under pressure from that point but he held his ground quite well for sixth, beaten just under two and a half lengths. *ANZ
