Appearance proved far the better once again coming with a big run on the outside of the field and drew away to an impressive length and a half win. Appearance was away well from the gates before being shuffled right back in the field to find herself third last and three wide. She commenced a forward move from the 600m in a packing field before again easing before the home turn and switching off the heels of Boban to corner on the outside of the field. She took a few strides to balance up in the straight but quickly picked up the leaders and raced away to a good win. Speediness was sound in defeat. He raced three wide without cover outside the leaders. He battled on gamely in the straight but could not match the winner. Moriarty put in a big run second up coming from a clear last and being held up at the top of the straight. He was finishing on strongly on the outside of the field to grab third in a blanket finish for the minor placings. He will be improved by the run and a step up in distance. Boban put in an even effort. He settled second last and four wide. He made a forward move at the 650m but could not sustain his effort to the line. He should be given the benefit of the doubt once again but it appears that he may not have come back in the same form that he was in the spring. *ANZ
