Believe Yourself ($11) progressed from winning a Kembla 2YO Maiden on debut to take out this Group Two event at Randwick at her next start. She settled seventh on the rails from her inside barrier (1) and was travelling well but was blocked at the turn. She eased wide, got a split on straightening and challenged at the 200m. She then proved too good in the closing stages to score a strong win. She is quite promising and should also appreciate further. The favourite Twirl came across from her wide barrier to race outside the leader. She looked the winner when she took the lead at the 200m but could not hold off the late closing winner to finish second. Tetsuko, a stablemate of the winner, raced in fifth place between runners. She got into the clear at the 200m and battled on for third. Press Report was back about seventh, one off the rails, before moving up at the home turn. She looked a threat at the 200m, but then just battled on for fourth. *ANZ
