Brazen Beau was smartly away and settled in third place, travelling well. He improved rounding the home turn, sprinted quickly at the 200m point and dashed clear shortly afterwards. He then went on to win easily by almost two lengths, putting up a smart effort at his second run this preparation. Nostradamus tracked the winner most of the way, moved up rounding the home turn but could not match the winner’s acceleration on straightening but ran on quite well in the latter stages to take second. Delectation was last in the six-horse field before making a quick run when the pace slacked at the 700m, going to second nearing the turn. He then held on quite soundly for third after his early move. The favourite Hallowed Crown was slow to move and was last before settling in fifth spot on the rails. He looked for an inside run on turning for home, got into clear running at the 150m but just battled on from that point to finish (2.6 lengths) fourth. It was his first defeat and his first start away from affected going. Time For War went straight to the front and led the field to the 200m before finishing (2.8 lengths) fifth, putting up a sound effort at his first run since June.
