Aliyana Tilde, last year’s Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) runner up appreciated a solid pace here. She was eighth to the 600m and was still giving the leader about seven lengths at the 400m but she ran on resolutely to win narrowly but well. Epinglewas seventh one off the rails, she was under pressure from the 600m but she kept running on quite well, getting to a narrow lead at the 100m, then failing by only a head at the post for a most encouraging second. Dolly Dolly was second last to the home turn. She was ridden hard from the 300m and continued to run on quite well to take third. Fibrillation was a handy third to the 800m then moved up to put pressure on the leader (Thy) from the 600m, got to the lead at the 300m, before tiring after that effort for a sound fourth. Our Girl Charlize made ground from the tail of the field for fifth while Thy tired, after leading to the home turn, for sixth. *ANZ
