Appearance raced in eighth place, three wide with cover. She made her move coming up quickly at the turn (with main rival More Joyous blocked between runners), grabbed the lead at the 200m then fought back for a good half length win. Red Tracer was about eighth on the rails, got a split between runners at the 200m and ran on well for a good second. Streama was fourth early then moved up three wide with cover (locking in the favourite More Joyous) before challenging at the 300m and fought on well for a good third, beaten one length. Secret Admirer was about ninth one off the rails, eased out wide on straightening and ran on quite well for fourth. The favourite More Joyous ($1.65) led early, then trailed in third spot but was hemmed in by Hugh Bowman (Streama) and was continually blocked from the midstages, losing ground when trying to force a run mid-stretch before finishing a luckless fifth. *ANZ
