Hot Snitzel got a great trip from his good barrier (3) in fourth place just behind the leaders. He travelled up strongly three wide at the turn, dashed clear at the 200m and went on to win easily. Smokin’ Joey was near the rear on the rails, switched between runners on straightening and made a lot of ground to take second. See The World was last in the 15-horse field to the turn, got a nice inside run on straightening, and made considerable ground for a good third. Rarefied was about eighth one off the rails to the 600m before getting a split between runners at the 300m then making ground for fourth. Rolling Pin was handy on the rails and held on for fifth. Aeronautical made a lot of ground for a late-closing sixth while the favourite Tiger Tees ($3.60) was outside the leader (Hidden Warrior) to the home turn but was struggling on straightening and tired for a disappointing eleventh. *ANZ
