Under The Sun ($3.30 fav) was second early and soon crossed to the lead. He was then able to set a moderate tempo (first 800m 49.92) on the Slow6. He travelled kindly in front for Frenchman Thomas Huet before increasing his lead passing the 300m. He was not threatened from that point and drew away to win comfortably by just over three lengths. Top weight Mic Mac led early and was eased to race behind the leader to the turn. He got through to second at the 200m and continued to fight on gamely under his 60.5kg to hold that position to the post. Coup Ay Tee raced in last place in the nine-horse field to the home turn. He got a split between runners at the 300m and made good ground, in the sprint home, to finish a sound third. Bold Glance ($4.60) raced outside the leader from the 800m and seemed to have every chance before finishing fourth while Pretty Pins ran on from second last for a late-closing fifth. *ANZ
