The Gai Waterhouse-trained Irish import The Offer, a noted wet-tracker, relished the Heavy 9 conditions to record an easy win. He travelled comfortably in third place, one off the rails, in the small five-horse field before moving up three wide at the 600m. He took the lead at the 300m and then drew right away to win by three and a quarter lengths. The favourite Opinion went straight to the front and was able to set a moderate tempo until the 600m point. He then battled on fairly well when challenged in the straight, having no chance with the winner, holding on for second after having every chance. Tremec was outside the leader to the home turn and battled on for third. Desert Jeuney had a good trip third on the rails. Got an inside run on turning for home but only plugged on the Heavy 9 track for fourth while last year’s Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Gondokoro was last throughout and was beaten just under nine lengths in a disappointing performance. *ANZ
