Intimate Moment ($21) went back from her wide barrier (13) and was last early on before settling in 11th place on the rails in the 13-horse field. She stuck to the rails at the turn, put in a good run on the inside passing the 200m and finished well to win by three quarters of a length. Any Day Will Do ($7) moved up in the early stages from her wide draw (11) to take the lead at the 1400m. She then steadied the tempo, looked a winning chance when clear at the 300m only to be run down in the latter stages for second. Top weight (56.5kg) Epingle was well back in tenth place to the 600m, and moved up (wide out) at the home turn. She then caught the eye with her late-closing finish to take third. A recent winner of her last two starts over 2400m in Tasmania, she obviously will appreciate stepping back up in distance. Mahara was well back ninth at the turn and ran on particularly well for a good (length and a half) fourth. The favourite Lucky Lago ($4.60) worked in the early stages from her wide barrier (12) going three wide before settling in fourth place at the 1000m. She just kept battling on in the straight after her early efforts for fifth while Scorpio Queen ($6.50), who was outside the leader most of the way, weakened for (three and half lengths) sixth. *ANZ
