Scratchy Bottom settled nicely in seventh place on the rails following a reasonable tempo. Craig Williams saved ground along the rails rounding the home turn, she got a split on passing the 200m and finished a bit too well for score by a head in a solid staying effort. Favourite Rising Romance travelled well in fifth place, with cover. She moved up shortly after straightening, got to the front at the 100m and fought gamely for second, putting up a good effort in conceding 5kg to the late-closing winner. Telepathic raced in seventh place, tracking Rising Romance. She moved up to challenge that mare at the 150m and then fought on in good style for a close-up third.
