Exosphere was a bit slow to move before settling in fifth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1). He then improved along the rails to be behind the leader (Speak Fondly), following an average early pace (first 800m 48.14) and got into clear running at the 300m when the leader sprinted to a clear break. He quickly gathered her in on passing the 200m, dashed clear shortly afterwards and went on to win impressively, dashing home in quick time. Speak Fondly went straight to the front, steadied the pace mid-race, dashed clear on turning for home and held on well for a good second, although having no chance with the winner in the latter stages. Sebring Sun raced in last place in the eight-horse field to the home turn. He fanned deep at the 300m and then ran on well in the sprint home for a very good third. Rageese was sixth on the rails, switched deep on straightening the then ran on well for a good (2.9 lengths) fourth. Press Statement raced in fourth place, between runners, was blocked and checked on turning for home. He then went to the rails and kept fighting on well, in the sprint home, for (3.2 lengths) fifth. He will be better suited by a more consistent pace and a longer trip.
