The Mick Kent-trained Consommateur, a lightly-raced mare, recorded her third win from only six starts in taking out her first stakes victory in impressive fashion here. She settled well in seventh place, one off the rails, tracked up well from the 600m, got a split on turning for home and got to the front on passing the 200m. She then drew away to score decisively, looking suited to further still. The top weight (57kg) Ambience went to the front. She then travelled nicely at a moderate tempo, held the lead until reaching the 200m and then held on soundly for second after conceding three kilos to the winner. Top Of My List was fifth early on before settling outside the leader (Ambience). She then held second until passing the 300m and then battled on to hold the minor placing. The favourite Alegria raced fourth place, was close enough at the 200m and then kept battling on to hold fourth, beaten 4.3 lengths.
