New Zealand-bred three-year-old Chasing Returns, who showed potential when second on debut in a two-year-old maiden (1000m) at Trentham in June last year, scored in really promising fashion at his second Australian start since resuming for his new trainer Peter Gelagotis. He was ridden quietly from his outside barrier (13) and settled at the tail of the field before improving (wide) from the 800m. He made the home turn widest of all, took the lead at the 100m and then drew away to score a very strong win by just over three lengths. He looks talented and is a horse to watch.
