Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) favourite Fontiton was hindered at the start but recovered from her good barrier (5) to settle in fourth place. She eased out on straightening, went to second at the 200m and finished a bit too win to score nicely by a neck in a sound first-up performance. Haybah went to the lead and was pressured a bit in front before grabbing a break on passing the 400m. She then fought back very well when challenged for a bold (neck) second. Godolphin’s Pursuits was eased and raced back in eighth place to the home turn. She then ran on well, late for a promising (2 lengths) third, going well on debut. Helsingor raced behind the leading pair in third place to the 300m and then battled on quite soundly for fourth while Godolphin’s Promenades was smartly away from a wide barrier (13) and raced outside the leader. She challenged strongly at the 300m but then weakened on that effort to finish (2.7 lengths) fifth, going quite well after working at her first start. The Phillip Stokes-trained filly Comprende raced in 12th place on the rails, was making ground then blocked in the straight and caught the eye running on late for (3.6 lengths) eighth.
