Analysis: Fontelina showed brilliant speed out of the gates to cross and lead easily. He held a handy length margin around the turn and upon straightening quickly accelerated clear to establish a race winning lead. He kicked into another gear at the 200m and was never going to lose. This was a commanding victory for a horse who had raced without luck recently in Group One company. Riva de Lago was held back at the rear of the field as per his usual racing pattern. He suffered slight interference at the 1000m before manoeuvring to the outside where he was wide but with cover. Eased to the outside in the straight and he ran home well but the winner was far too strong. Decision Time settled in a lovely position behind the leader before drifting back to be fifth one off the fence. He launched bid at top of straight and worked to the line solidly but his run peaked 50m from home. Double Halo performed above expectations. He was posted wide throughout but held on gamely for fourth in a tough effort. *ANZ
