Scoring his fifth consecutive victory, Clearly Innocent scored well here, jumping fairly from barrier seven to settle fourth, off the rails, heading down the back straight. Dropping back a couple of places starting the bend he then cruised up four wide and was ready to pounce once the field straightened. His apprentice rider, Samantha Clenton, balanced him up and he bounded to the front at the 200m and went on to score well. Music Magnate was left untouched around the bend and into the straight where he held them by two lengths at the 400m. Once challenged he surged again and looked very likely but when the winner passed him he fought on for a sound second. Cradle Me had a beautiful run in behind the leader to the home straight then ran on well without looking like winning.
