Clearly Innocent, who was having his second run for the Kris Lees stable was quite impressive in winning here at his second run this preparation. He was settled nicely in seventh place on the rails by Hugh Bowman, behind a good pace (set by the free-running Sweet Serendipity). He got through to fourth on straightening, dashed to the front at the 150m and then went on to win easily. Snoopy raced back in fourth place, went to second at the 150m and battled on well to hold that position to the post. Gold Symphony was a distant seventh at the 600m and made good ground over the latter stages to take the minor placing, putting up a sound effort.
