Viridine was too good having joined in at the 150m and scored easily, his fifth career win and third stakes. He was among the rear group early but from the 600m improved quickly to be midfield then kept going forward but was very wide turning in. Keeping up a strong run, he caught the leaders at the 150m, strolled clear then was eased down at the line, the half-length margin flattering his opponents. Victorem sat second last at the 600m, moved up and was closer from the top of the straight, got clear late and flashed home between runners for second. Guard Of Honour was fifth turning in, had every chance yet kept on solidly for third from Magic Alibi who flew late from midfield to grab fourth.
