Chris Waller-trained stayer Life Less Ordinary, a shortpriced favourite here after his good win in an open handicap (1800m) at Flemington on Anzac Day, scored his first stakes win and his seventh win in 29 starts in scoring easily. He began well from his inside barrier (1), settled nicely midfield on the rails before Tye Angland got him along the inner rounding the home turn and after dashing to the front shortly afterwards he raced away to win easily by just over four lengths. Self Sense raced in ninth place, one off the rails, before improving (wide with cover) on nearing the 800m. He went widest of all at the home turn and then ran on well to grab second. The winner's stablemate Montauk was a handily placed, just behind the leaders, moved up well on straightening, went to second at the 100m and then fought on take the minor placing.
