Promising colt Gredington, having his second start this preparation, scored a very good win. He began well but was trapped deep and eased to settle in last place in the eight-horse field. He commenced his run nearing the home turn, got to fourth at the 200m and finished too well to score a narrow but impressive win, running the 1300m out well and should appreciate further still. Favourite Just One Moment, a winner at her only start, scoring on debut at Echuca on 29 June, travelled nicely outside the leader (Brass In My Pocket), looked the winner when she drew clear at the 200m but could not hold off the late-closing winner for a sound second.
