The Chris Waller-trained filly Winx scored a good debut win. She did not show any early pace and settled back in seventh place. She was under riding from the 800m and made ground along the rails before switching out on straightening. She then ran on strongly in the centre of the track to win by three quarters of a length, drawing away. She should appreciate stepping up in distance and looks the makings a very promising filly. Felines showed good early pace and travelled nicely outside the leader. She briefly looked the winner when he drew clear at the 200m but she had no chance with the late-closing winner in the latter stages, holding on for a sound second. *ANZ
