The Bjorn Baker-trained colt Addictive Nature followed good recent barrier trial wins at Rosehill and Randwick with an impressive race day debut here. After beginning well he raced (one from the rails) in a strongly contested lead before going clear at the 200m. He then went on to record a really good win and in smart time. He looks a smart colt. Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt Gold Standard raced in fifth place, between runners, got through to third on straightening and then battled on well for a promising second, also racing on debut. Godolphinraced Schubert raced in seventh place, improved (wide with cover) nearing the home turn and ran on nicely for third. Chris Waller-trained colt Al Mah Haha went back from his outside barrier (10), was last to the home turn and caught the eye with his late-closing (2 lengths) fourth in another good effort on debut.
