Group Three-placed, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly Sheikha put up a good effort in winning here at her second run this preparation. Having her seventh start and carrying top weight (60kg) she travelled nicely outside the leader (Dreamy Belle) at a moderate tempo, went to the front at the 200m and then fought back to win well, sprinting home in a quick 33.96 (last 600m).The Team Hawkes-trained filly Tarabai raced in fourth spot in the small five-horse field, responded to riding from the 100m and made good late ground in the sprint home to take a very good second at only her second start. She looks promising.
