Chris Waller-trained Omineca looks a promising three-yearold stayer who improved on his third on debut in a Newcastle 3yo maiden (1400m) on 1 March to score really well here. He settled in second last place in the eight-horse field, before Hugh Bowman took him wide to make his move nearing the home turn. He then ran on resolutely in the straight, hit the front at the 100m before going on to score by almost two lengths, running the 1600m out well.
