This Listed feature on the card was solidly enough run and the first two home came from the back with the winner El Chico clocking 1:22.83. El Chico was winning today remarkably his twenty-first race and even more amazing this was start number one hundred and ten. He is a 10yo and clearly durable plus has finished in the first five in almost two thirds of his starts. Ironically the last time he won a race was this very event in 2014 under 59kg when also coming from well back to score narrowly. He carried 57.5kg in this and was ridden by Shannon Doyle interestingly. Doyle had ridden him just once before into third and it came at the second start of the gelding way back in March of 2008. Absolut Excelencia came with a thunderous late finish down the outer from last and almost got up. The pacesetter Our Premonition was only run over late and does race well on this track. The hot favourite Madam Victoria was a fair fourth after drifting back to the rear trio early then making a run wide across the top but her usual ping was missing when looming into the race centre track at the 400m. Ishimine ran on the closing stages okay while King Montrose and Brah Spring battled on, with the latter actually second until the final 100m. The rest disappointed overall with perhaps Rohaise plugging on late and forgivable for when next time seen out. Hard to say a race has depth when a 10yo with well over a century of starts wins without any other runners having a viable excuse.
