This Listed Open Handicap over 2100m saw the 5yo mare Mohaka lead them up and never gets headed as she hung on to score by a short neck in 2:10.18. It was her sixth outing at Blacktype and her first win and goes with three Listed placings as a 3yo filly plus a fourth at Listed level just three starts ago. The winners and where they came from were third (five-off the fence and a length and a half from the leader), ninth (five-off the fence and three lengths from the leader), fourth (four-off the fence and length and a half from the leader), second (six-off the inside and a length from the leader), fifth (eight-wide off the fence and length and a half from the leader), second (six-off the inside and a length from the leader), led (eight-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), led (two-lengths ahead on the fence) and third (seven-off the fence and length and a half from the leader). Mohaka led up for the third time in her career (she did so in two of her first three starts and was placed both times) and today was her first look at 2100m. She had run second as a 3yo filly over 2000m in Listed grade. Today she was winning just her third race in nineteen starts but that goes with ten times being placed showing her consistency. Lubaya sat in the rear group back on the inner then saved ground by staying closer in near the home turn and came through and worked off to be second turning in. She tried ever so hard but came up a short neck from victory. Obsessive ran on strongly from ninth the outer and seven wide across the top to get third albeit in a gap the last 25m. London Banker the $2.10 favourite raced seventh the outer early then improved through fifth at the 600m and turned for home fourth and wider. Her margin of defeat was over five lengths and she was somewhat disappointing. Nymph Monte was next home after improving through third the inner at the 200m from eighth on settling and turning in there. Sampson raced fifth or sixth wide the whole way and wilted to be sixth beaten almost seven lengths. Charlie Horse was a disappointing seventh beaten eight lengths after racing third the inner and Red Sierra, a plugging ninth after racing in that spot most of the way. Gorbachev raced fourth mostly and stopped the run in while High Quality beat one home and was defeated over ten lengths. Hi I'm Nikita ran last after being wide early and going up second the outer then stopped the run home badly and was beaten over thirteen lengths. Mares finished in the top two positions and they were dominant too at the finish.
