The winner of this G3 at WFA fillies and mares event over 2000m was the odds on pop Savy Yong Blonk ($1.80) and the 5yo mare won this effortlessly by three lengths and she clocked 2:02.28. The mare raced fourth and fifth the inner then was worked off to be fourth between runners midrace then moved up second across the top before leading at the 150m and powering clear. The winners and where they came from turning for home were led (on the inner and a length ahead), led (one-off the inside and half a length in front), fourth (on the inside and two lengths from the leader), led (on the inner and two lengths in front), fourth (on the fence and length from the leader), second (four-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), second (one-off the inside and a neck from the leader), second (one-off the inside and a neck from the leader) and eighth (four-off the inside and five lengths from the leader). It was the seventh win in twenty-three starts for the mare and this was her second win at G3 plus it goes with eight other starts at Group level for four placings (three seconds and one third). Interestingly her two G3 wins have come at 2000m and 2400m and her four placings have all come at 2100m or 2400m. Second home was Yatima that ran home solidly from tenth or eleventh and she swept up and reached fifth turning for home. The 6yo mare kept coming gamely to reach second with 20m to go but the winner had long gone clear by then. This was the second time in a row she has been Blacktype placed after a third at Listed level prior. Platinum Rapper ran on from sixth or seventh the inner then came off across the top and reached third near the home turn. It was her second Blacktype placing having run third in a Listed WFA event in June of 2019. Also she was ridden by the apprentice Kozzi Asano today. Fourth home was Jessiegee that settled tenth or eleventh the outer then came up seventh turning for home and she found the line to get fourth on the post. She was beaten just over three and a half lengths. Next home was Mohaka that went up wide to be second the outer then led and went clear across the top only to be headed at the 150m and perhaps the button was pushed too soon. The 5yo mare was swamped the last 20m and got beaten less than three and three-quarter lengths. Sixth home at $83 was Hinepara that ran on well from second last on her own midrace to be beaten four and a half lengths. Grand Bouquet was seventh home beaten five lengths after racing well back the inner and she was held up turning for home when working off. She found the line but the bird had already flown. The rest got beaten over seven lengths and as a far as over thirty- eight and a half lengths. The winner Savy Yong Blonk was a class above this lot and she showed it over the final stages too.
