Omf Stakes (G3)

Type: OPEN

This G3 2000m was run at tepid rate on a day where not very many could win from too far away turning for home and was in effect a sprint home only. Chance To Dance from the trail drove through one-off the run home and led at the 50m to prevail by a long head in a sedate 2:04.77. He had at his prior start been given a nightmare wide trip all the way at G1 under WFA so back to G3 and drawn better the win was very predictable. The 8yo gelding was winning his ninth race in thirty-one starts and has found New Zealand very easy indeed as shown in three starts here he has won at G3 and Listed level. Five of his wins have come at 2000m. Mime ran a game second after sitting fourth the outer and she went up to win at the 200m but could not repel the older male over the closing stages. Authentic Paddy fought hard for third after sitting outside the leader and not applying any pressure. Consensus was sixth the outer and following the eventual runner up all the way then ran on well to get fourth near the line. The leader Saint Emilion was run over into fifth beaten just over two lengths but had every possible hope as he was left alone to dictate. Promise To Reign ran on okay after sitting fifth the inside in a finish that saw basically the first six on settling fill those positions over the line and dominate the rest. The seventh finisher was a wet track handicapper in Smedley that was beaten seven lengths so he was about four and a half lengths behind the sixth finisher. Wait A Sec showed his last start G1 win under WFA was a total fluke with a running on a shade late eighth beaten eight lengths. The clockwise factor may have been an excuse and a slow run race but surely not an eight lengths turnaround or more on several. The winner was beaten nine and a half lengths in that G1 and today beats him by eight lengths for a massive turnaround of seventeen and a half lengths. Wait A Sec is likely a handicapper that got very lucky on the last day at the Bay that was in fact a fourth day after day three got abandoned. The rest today were outclassed or are not WFA gallopers and never will be. Chance To Dance will beat these every time at WFA if given a half decent run in transit as the 8yo finds the depth in New Zealand is non-existent at this international scale.
