Mufhasa Fasttrack Stakes (LR)

Age: 3yo Type: OPEN

This Listed 3yo over 1300m saws the shortest priced runner all day in Astor win easily at $1.90 after leading all the way. Every winner today at Ellerslie on a ten-race card incredibly was at single figures and the longest price was the Derby winner Vin De Dance at $9.90. Astor never looked like losing when clocking 1:15.20 and after coming home the last 600m in 33.61 it was no wonder the rest could not reel her in. It was her fourth win in eight starts and the only time she has been out of the money was a fourth at G3. Today was her first blacktype win and fresh up this campaign she ran a distant second to Melody Belle at G2, which for perspective has been well beaten twice in Sydney since at G2 then G1. Caesour's Dream finished second after chasing the winner all the way and actually leveled up briefly at the 200m before being dropped and beaten almost two lengths. Ladynadel sat fourth the outer and was third in a gap at the 200m but kept coming and ran the fastest last 600m plus she is a stablemate of the runner up. The Great Southern trailed third and wilted to finish fourth beaten over four lengths. The maiden winner on debut at $63 in Fancy More started today at $33 and ran on okay late from the rear trio. Morrie Ock was just fair and Felton Road was poor while Honesty was never likely and Iffindoubt was dreadful. Bridal Veil was completely outclassed. Not much changed in the running throughout and the winner Astor has many more wins in store this season and could well be competitive in Australia with Queensland the lesser depth but Sydney has the bigger stakemoney.
