This Listed 3yo only 1300m saw a resuming gelding in Qiji Express prove too good after sitting in the trail and then getting a run through to lead at the 200m. Qiji Express had not raced since the G1 2000 Guineas (1600m) last November and the sprinter proved too slick winning by almost a length and a half in 1:16.88 The winners and where they turned for home in race order were fifth (five-off the fence and two lengths from the leader), eighth (two-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), led (length ahead and four-off the inside), third (five-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), fourth (six-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), twelfth (four-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), fourth (one-off the inside and length and a half from the leader), fifth (one-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fourth (two-off the inside and a length from the leader) and led (one-off the fence and a neck in front). It was the third win from ten starts for Qiji Express and his first Blacktype success. Single digit draws in this event filled the top five finishing positions unsurprisingly. She's A Thief was four-wide on the pace early working then got eased before settling fifth the outer and surged into second at the 200m. She tried hard but was chasing in vain. Tiger Silk ran on strongly after getting back on the inner and missed second by a lip. Cavallo Veloce fought hard for game fourth and was a nose and a short head from second considering he raced sixth the outer then eighth across the top. King Louis raced midfield wide throughout albeit with cover and kept coming but never looked like paying a dividend. Cyber Attack ran on rather well too late after being second last away and he looks a next upper. Reevederci also got warmed up late nicely and any rain around makes him a runner to follow. Wekaforce sat outside the leader and led turning for home but weakened thereafter. Ensemble was only fair while Queen Of The Air led up and stopped once headed in a disappointing display. Bit Lippy got too far back and the rank outsider Whatsitallabout is better suited back to all maidens where he can win next time out. Princess Amelie will sleep well after a gut buster wide fifth the open then third wide still cutting the wind and she was down to a walk the run home to finish last beaten twenty-three lengths. Qiji Express has more wins in store and his being gelded could be the making of him plus he has form around some reasonable types. She's A Thief still has more to offer this season and she has tactical speed so can negate barriers and counter track bias or benefit from it. Cavallo Veloce was game and has not run a poor race this year. The two out of the race to be on next time are Cyber Attack and Reevederci and both could be suited to a Queensland Winter campaign, especially the latter. This was a genuine Listed level field and was in fact more a G3 standard looking at several of the runners involved.
