This G3 at WFA for fillies and mares only saw an all the way winner in Supreme Heights register her second win at this level in a row. The 5yo mare started second favourite and led early then controlled the race before kicking to a length lead turning for home and she held on by half a length at the line in 1:24.59. The winners and where they came from on the home turn were led (three-off the inside and four lengths ahead), led (one-off the inside and half a length ahead), third (five-off the inside and one length from the leader), led (one-off the inside and a neck in front), led (on the inner and a length ahead), ninth (ten-wide the home turn and three and a half lengths from the leader), second (four-off the inside and half a length from the leader), co-leader (on the fence), led, (one-off the inside and a length ahead) and eighth (six-off the inside and three lengths from the leader). Supreme Heights controlled the pace and won her second Blacktype event in a row having failed at her first two attempts (she was a distant fourth in one of them), so she has come of age. Today was her sixteenth start for her seventh win and she has only won on rain-affected footing (four wins on a bog and three wins in easy/dead footing). Second home and powering through the line from ninth on settling was Le Castille that was having her eighth start at Blacktype finally and she was finally rewarded with a placing. She had in her seven attempts run two good fourths (at G2 against her own sex), two fifths (one at G1 against her own sex and the other at Listed level, also versus fillies and mares only). In fact she has never really gone a poor race at Blacktype so deserved the placing. Third home was the Australian bred Kiwi Ida that started a clear favourite and raced fifth and then improved wide at the 600m and went up second turning for home. She got to within half a length of the winning leader before wilting a tad in a purely sprint home and ended up third at the 10m but still with a G3 placing. Fourth home and finding the line well late was Mohaka to be beaten just over two and a half lengths. Fifth home was Yearn, the third favourite, that raced eighth the outer and was warming up well late to be beaten just under three lengths. Belle Plaisir was a solid sixth, also beaten less than the lengths, after racing outside the winning leader and then being third turning for home and fourth still at the 100m. Today was just her ninth start, so she is in for a good season without a doubt whilst the tracks are not rock hard. A gap of over four lengths then was seen to Boundtobehonored that had every possible chance trailing third or fourth the inner to the home turn. Sinarahma ran ninth as fourth favourite after missing away by two lengths and being last on settling. She plugged on to be beaten five and a half lengths but her chips were done at the start as this race was basically a sprint home only. Only five runners broke 34 seconds for the last 600m, the second, third, fourth and fifth runners and this mare. Eight of the ten winners on the day ran first, second or third turning for home, so the bias was heavily towards on pacers especially when you consider the first two events were jumps races.
