The winner of this G3 juvenile event was the filly Bonita Aurelia that raced sixth the outer and came up fourth wider turning for home before unleashing the run home She reached second at the 200m and under a hard ride took the lead with 15m to go and scored in the end by a long neck in 1:11.18. The winners and where they came from were in race order seventh (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), seventh (four-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), seventh (on the inside rail and three lengths from the leader), fourth (six-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), second (one-off the inside and a neck away), eighth (eight off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (eight off the inside and two lengths from the leader) and sixth (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader). It was just her second start after a close up effort the prior October having trialled super more than once prior. Today was obviously her first Blacktype outing and to show her worth after today she would race just once more for a distant third at G2 in the Matamata Breeders Stakes. Second home was Piaggio that raced third and wide to the home turn then led at the 300m and only gave way late. Third home was the Australian-bred Amosia that came from last on settling then turned for home sixth and the deepest out. Today was her second Blacktype placing having finished third at Listed level back in October. Fourth home was Trident that was luckless after being last on the home turn and then getting a checkered run thereafter. The last three home were beaten almost four lengths and up to just over five lengths with the favourite Perfect Scenario filling that berth. The leader and outside her ran third last and second last while the trailer (fourth spot) but sixth on the home turn ran last. The runner up was very game and it took a decent sort to run him down.
