The winner of this race was the topweight Pris De Fer that has been in sensational form this season. Prior to today he had raced five times for a third and then four wins in a row and today he would capture his fifth win in succession. The winners and where they came from were in race order seventh (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), seventh (four-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), seventh (on the inside rail and three lengths from the leader), fourth (six-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), second (one-off the inside and a neck away), eighth (eight off the inside and three lengths from the leader), seventh (eight off the inside and two lengths from the leader) and sixth (six-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader). He had won a G2 easily prior today and was up 4kg but it made no difference as he sat back then improved wide across the top and turned for home sixth and seven-off the inside. After reaching third at the 200m he then set out after the leading pair and led with 100m to go scoring by just under a length to clock 1:50.75. His form after today saw a G1 second and a G1 fifth, with both efforts being very commendable, and he has already resumed this season with a G2 third. He is in for another big season it does appear. Today was his fifth win in a row and his first at G3, which went with his G2 success achieved at his start beforehand. He now has won six of his twelve starts. Second home was the mare Jessiegee that last won a race a year ago but she has run some good races in the interim. Third home was the consistent mare Guillada that had run a luckless sixth prior to today at G3 and before that a G2 second. Scott Base ran on very gamely for fourth down the outer and would win at G2 two starts after today. Mongolian Marshall ran an honest fifth and has run one G1 placing in seven runs this season but has gone some absolute crackers too. There was less than six and a half lengths from first to last and the likes of Obsessive (ninth) and Platinum Invador (eleventh) both ran on well late. This was a genuine G3 event contested at set weights and penalties.
