The 3yo depth has looked dubious all season so far and this G3 mile drew an ordinary line that further clouded the picture rather than solve anything. The dozen runners saw six of them last start maiden winners and one them prevailed narrowly in Matchbreaker that sat outside the pace early then led at the 800m and had company thereafter to the home turn. The gelding kept giving the run home and held on to win by a short head in 1:36.57 to record his second win in three starts. Trail Blazer stormed home from the back to just miss victory and she was a last start maiden winner on wet ground over 2000m. Divine Power was a brave third after sitting wide early then outside the winner midrace before fighting gamely the run home. Karisto the favourite was seventh surrounded and then was sent up wide to challenge 600m out that clearly was way too early a move in the race. He fought on for fourth beaten two and three-quarter lengths but was cut loose too soon considering how the race was run and won. Satin Belt was brave for fifth after being sixth wide throughout and getting up to fourth turning in. The filly kept boxing on to be beaten three lengths after never being on the track at any stage. Lady Rossa had every chance from the trail while Platinum Volos after settling in the rear duo was noticed running on along the fence. Dance For Money had every chance and was okay while Empress Tzu Hsi would be best back to her own grade. Veuve Clicquot and Mofara were outclassed by a dozen lengths or more while The Boy Wonder clipped heels and lost his rider 80m out when not going too badly. This was not a true G3 race and many of these are wet trackers in reality plus the winning time was almost a second inferior to the Ratings 75 event prior.
