This G3 1400m fillies and mares event was run at a solid clip and saw a beaten hotpot from five days earlier here in First Serve prevail. She was wide early before going up second the outer at the 800m then sat there poised before taking the front at the 250m and having a good break at the 100m. First Serve only won by a neck in the end as the runner up Latin Rose boomed home late but she clocked 1:22.20 for her sixth win from eighth starts. She now has a G3 win and G3 placing plus a Listed fourth and has it all ahead. Latin Rose was tardy and well back on the inner before being angled out and stomping home strongly to gain her first blacktype placing. Heni ran her usual sound race at a track she loves for third while Caramac was a sound fourth after missing away and looping the field to lead after 300m. Sleek Secret fought on okay for fifth from a good sit the outer and Coulee had every chance from the trail. The rest were battling the run home and ended up beaten six lengths to just over a dozen lengths. First Serve has more wins in store for sure and may come up to the North Island again sooner rather than later. There should be form out of the race over the Summer and Autumn.
